Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and organized CNC Machinist & Shop Coordinator to manage and operate our in-house machine shop. This individual will work closely with our engineering team to manufacture prototype and production components using our CNC mill and CNC lathe. The ideal candidate is not only technically proficient but also capable of managing shop workflows, maintaining schedules, and adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
Collaborate directly with engineers to plan, prioritize, optimize, and execute machining tasks aligned with project timelines.
Design and build custom fixtures and tooling to facilitate rapid turnaround of prototypes.
Continuously improve our prototyping process to maximize its value to the rest of the organization.
Operate and maintain our shop equipment to produce precision components based on internal engineering designs.
Interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and manufacturing documentation to ensure high-quality part production.
Manage and organize the machine shop, including tooling inventory, raw material stock, and machine maintenance schedules.
Coordinate machining schedules to support rapid prototyping, short-run production, and urgent design changes.
Maintain clean, safe, and efficient shop operations, adhering to best practices in quality control and safety.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience operating CNC machinery in a prototyping or low-volume production environment.
Proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Solidworks, Fusion360, Mastercam) and ability to generate toolpaths from CAD models.
Strong understanding of machining best practices, material properties, tolerances, and surface finishes.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical blueprints.
What we offer
